Back in early March, I had the privilege of being interviewed by Sarah Bereza and The Rev. Bill Smutz for Getting to Nimble, their church leadership podcast. Little did I know they would be the last visitors to my home before we we began social distancing a week later.
Read MoreI was excited for an invitation to participate in Radical Love Live in mid-March, an event hosted by the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City that creates space for people to talk about spirituality in all its forms. We had a rich planning call and hoped to move forward, while carefully monitoring the movement of Covid-19 in the country. When we knew the live event would need to be cancelled, along with my travel to the city, co-creators Kelly Wilson and Mark Dilcom invited me to be part of online interview which they released as a podcast.
Read MoreIn September 2019, Music that Makes Community returned to Cincinnati to offer a three-day song leader training workshop centered in African and African-American musical traditions and leadership practices. The workshop also included story sharing inspired by Becoming Beloved Community, a national effort of the Episcopal Church to respond to racial injustice and grow a community of reconcilers, justice-makers, and healers.
The combination of paperless music and story sharing was heart-opening, and many spoke of the workshop as life changing. While pictures only give a hint of what we shared together, we're excited to share some highlights with you!
